IMPORTANT NOTICE : Java installer should work but is not the recommended way to install Jajuk. Use the native package instead when available (see Download : .exe under Windows, .rpm under Mandriva/Redhat, .deb under Debian/Ubuntu, .dmg under OSX.

Targeted platforms

Any OS supporting Java 1.6 or above (Linux, Solaris, AIX, Windows, FreeBSD, MacOS etc.)

Requirements

  • [Mandatory] Java Runtime environment (JRE) 1.6 and above. To install it, go to http://www.java.com/ and click Download. Not sure if you already have Java ? Check this link.
  • [Mandatory] 1024x768 screen resolution and higher
  • [Strongly recommended] MPlayer 1.0 rc1 and above available from the $PATH (this will provide better sound quality and more audio formats such flac). Note that mplayer is embedded in the Java installer when run under Windows (only).

Jajuk Installation

The Java Installer uses an IzPack setup file working with any operating system.

  1. Launch it from a console:
java -jar jajuk-java-installer-${version}.jar
  1. Select your language for installation
  2. Read carefully the provided README file
  3. Read and accept GPL license.
  4. Select installation target : Example: /usr/local/jajuk
  5. Create shortcuts (if your OS is support it)

Run Jajuk

  • Use the new menu desktop shortcut if created
  • Or simply go in the directory you have installed Jajuk and type ./jajuk.sh in a console

Upgrade

  • It is safe to install the new release over previous one without uninstalling, Jajuk supports backwards compatibility.
  • Jajuk doesn't support downwards compatibility: A Jajuk release may not work with a collection built by a newer release than the one you use.

Uninstallation

  • Launch uninstaller by clicking on the menu : Start -> Programs -> Jajuk ->'Uninstall'.
